What surprised you most about Yucaipa?

I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $466,000 on average. The median home value here is around $466,000, which is pretty steep. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 1 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 56, moved here 6 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The housing market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a accountant and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
