Is it worth buying in Yuma?

Alright, I've been here for 12 years and Median household income is $62,546, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $209,100, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Yuma sits at 380.7 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Easy commute

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
What do you all think? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely decent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Definitely worth checking out..
