Rent in Yuma getting crazy

First post here. I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $1,085 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Yuma sits at 380.7 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What are your go-to spots? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The cultural scene is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 35, moved here 15 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in South and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Can feel isolated
3. The outdoor recreation situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
