Longtime lurker here, Homes are going for about $106,900 on average. Would love some local perspective.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much affordable but now it's tough.

I've lived in Springfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The weather scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Pittsburgh it's hit or miss.

I've lived in Midtown for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- The food scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
