I relocated for work and Rent is about $812/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $106,900 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective. TIA! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Atlanta about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is solid.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
