Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much growing but now it's surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely average and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Sunset) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in tech here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is improving. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 25, moved here 15 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Old Town and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The outdoor recreation situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
