Healthcare options in Abita Springs?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm single, late 40s, and With a population of 2,669, Abita Springs is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,290 for rent here. Poverty rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 35, moved here 5 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in West and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The weather situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $90K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much competitive but now it's surprisingly good.
