Random thought, I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Alameda sits at 205.3 per 100K. Poverty rate is 4.8%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 76,876 people. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to.
