Grocery stores in Alameda -recommendations?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm retired and Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $2,394 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in East area are decent. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Westside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Mediterranean places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Boston it's underrated.
