Moving to Alameda with kids -good idea?
Been meaning to ask this. I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $1,203,900 on average. The median home value here is around $1,203,900, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
