Planning a move to Alameda -neighborhoods?

I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $132,015, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. TIA! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
