Starting a business in Alameda?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm single, late 20s, and Rent is about $2,394/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $2,394 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for Alameda? Thanks for reading. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely challenging and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Midtown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much wild but now it's better than expected.
