Job market in Albany for tech?

OK so Poverty rate is 13.1%, which is around average. Rent is about $1,178/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Anyone in a similar situation? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is tough in most areas.

I'm a electrician and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 56, moved here 11 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in North and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The housing market situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to San Diego it's improving.
