Housing in Alton compared to St. Louis
First post here. The median home value here is around $99,500, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think? The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
