How is Alton for outdoor activities?

Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Alton sits at 1,016.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $99,500, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 17.7%, which is higher than I expected. You can expect to pay around $948 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
