Random thought, I'm originally from Boston and It's a a small town city with about 18,162 people. Household incomes average around $50,193 in Amsterdam. Median household income is $50,193, which feels on the lower side for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks for reading. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Korean places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Salt Lake City it's decent.
