Anyone else love living in Arlington?

Alright, Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $885,000, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 8 years. Moved from Dallas for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is improving - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Dating scene is rough. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 25, moved here 11 years ago from Portland. I've lived in North and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The outdoor recreation situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for retirees. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
