Is Arlington a good place to live?

First post here. I've been here for 10 years and Rent is about $2,043/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. TIA! Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
- The cost of living scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 25, moved here 15 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Westside and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Property taxes are high
3. The healthcare situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
