Anyone else feel this way? I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $81,938 in Atlanta. Rent is about $1,617/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 63°F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a mid-size city city with about 499K people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for Atlanta? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much manageable but now it's average.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Lakewood area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Salt Lake City it's hit or miss.
