Random but I grew up here, left for college, and came back 3 years ago. Appreciate the help.

Alright, I'm going to write the reply I wish someone had written for me when I was researching Atlanta.
Background: 38, college grad, moved from San Diego 7 years ago for school. Currently in Midtown.
**Housing:**
The market is excellent right now. We went with Midtown because it felt safe. Paid /mo starting out, now at /mo. If I could do it again, I'd look at Candler Park - it's quiet and the value is better.
**Work:**
education jobs are tough here. I was worried coming from San Diego but the market is mixed. Salary-wise, expect competitive for the cost of living.
**Social Life:**
This was my biggest worry. First 14 months were tough. Then I found my people through a kickball league. Now I have a solid group. Atlanta people are warm once you break through.
**Day to Day:**
- Groceries: reasonable
- Traffic: depends entirely on your commute route
- Dining out: improving rapidly
- Entertainment: you make your own fun here
**Would I move here again?**
The community in {hood} is really tight-knit.. For young professionals, I'd give it a 8/10.
Feel free to DM me with specific questions - happy to help fellow newcomers.

Renter's perspective: I think it's fair for the area. I'm in Old Fourth Ward and it's great. Definitely shop around though.

Just to add another data point - we moved from Miami about 5 years ago. Nightlife is decent if you know where to go.. No regrets so far.

I moved to Cabbagetown from Dallas about 9 years ago. Initially I missed home a lot. But after settling in, Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable..
A few things I'd recommend:
- Check out Cabbagetown and Druid Hills for housing
- Don't judge the whole city by downtown
- Give it at least 6 months before deciding if it's for you
The biggest adjustment was nightlife. Downtown has improved dramatically since I first moved here.. Overall I'd give Atlanta a 7/10 for students.

We pay /mo in Inman Park for a 1-bed and honestly it's worth it. The weather took some getting used to but I actually love it now.

Honestly it depends on what you prioritize. If career growth matters most, then yeah Atlanta is great. But if you need diversity, might want to look at Candler Park instead.

Moved here from Minneapolis and I'd say Cost of living is {col_feel} compared to where I came from.. The walkability here is underrated compared to what I'm used to.
