Worst things about Baton Rouge nobody talks about

Alright, We have two kids and With a population of 224K, Baton Rouge is a mid-size city. Median household income is $49,944, which feels on the lower side for the area. Rent is about $1,044/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $224,500 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Highland area are challenging. Kids love it here.
