Moving to Battlefield -what should I know?

Hi all, I'm a 40-year-old teacher and Median household income is $87,414, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 6,095, Battlefield is a small town. Homes are going for about $207,100 on average. Rent is about $931/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What would you do? Thanks! Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 10 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in Fairview for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 4 years. Moved from Austin for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is average - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.
