Cheapest neighborhoods in Berea?

OK so I've been here for 9 years and It's a a small town city with about 16,642 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Berea sits at 40.8 per 100K. Rent is about $1,032/month for a decent place. With a population of 16,642, Berea is a small town. Median household income is $48,104, which feels on the lower side for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Diverse community
- Walkable downtown
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Limited nightlife
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
