Hello, I'm a 32-year-old mechanic and Median household income is $111,297, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $487,700, which is pretty steep. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Would love some local perspective. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 14 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
