Bertram vs Omaha -which is better?

Anyone else feel this way? Been living here since 2006. It's a a small town city with about 1,998 people. Household incomes average around $63,750 in Bertram. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much established but now it's better than expected.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 13 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 8 years. Moved from Denver for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is decent - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Far from beaches/mountains. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
