What's it really like living in Bessemer?

I relocated for work and The weather takes some getting used to. Let me know your thoughts. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 15 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
