Is Biloxi a good place to live?

Random thought, We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $203,200 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 49,011 people. Poverty rate is 13.0%, which is around average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 6 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been here 3 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 31, moved here 2 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Springfield and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The safety situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
