Job hunting in Birmingham — tips?

Longtime lurker here, Crime rate is something to consider — Birmingham sits at 1,588.3 per 100K. Median household income is $44,376, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thoughts?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 12 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
