Things that make Black Mountain unique

I'm single, late 50s, and Homes are going for about $351,700 on average. Household incomes average around $70,041 in Black Mountain. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Black Mountain sits at 97.7 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
Should I be concerned? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely tough and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (North) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
