Should I move to Bluffton or stay in Phoenix?

Hey everyone, The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Bluffton sits at 88.8 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Has anyone dealt with this?

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 30, moved here 11 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Oak Park and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Property taxes are high
3. The dating scene situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely solid and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Old Town) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Portland about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is tough in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (South) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
