Couple moving to Brown Deer from out of state

Random thought, I work in tech and Household incomes average around $91,567 in Brown Deer. With a population of 12,615, Brown Deer is a small town. Poverty rate is 6.2%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $221,100, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Brown Deer sits at 337.0 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What are your go-to spots? TIA! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Mediterranean places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 6 years. Moved from Houston for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is average - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Winters are long and cold. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The dating scene is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
