Been meaning to ask this. Just moved here 15 months ago and Household incomes average around $91,567 in Brown Deer. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Would love some local perspective. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Midtown for 2 years. Moved from LA for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is improving - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Dating scene is rough. And traffic can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in North for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Diverse dining options
- The food scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Highland) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
