Hey everyone, I'm a 42-year-old HR manager and Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 1,232, Buffalo is a small town. Household incomes average around $21,831 in Buffalo. Median household income is $21,831, which feels on the lower side for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Thoughts? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely average and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Westside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
