Rent vs buy in Butner -what makes sense?

Longtime lurker here, We're a young couple and Homes are going for about $225,600 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from New York about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is better than expected in most areas.
