Hey folks, I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 1,936, Caledonia is a small town. The unemployment rate is 0.3%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Worth the trade-offs? I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I'm a HR manager and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Seattle it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Baltimore about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
