Hey, I'm a 43-year-old data analyst and Homes are going for about $240,700 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Should I be concerned? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in Springfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The traffic scene is decent
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much manageable but now it's hit or miss.
