Life in Cambridge as a young professional

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 14.8%, which is around average. Homes are going for about $254,400 on average. The median home value here is around $254,400, which seems about average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thanks in advance! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Seattle about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely decent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Fairview) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..
