OK so We have two kids and The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Anyone in a similar situation? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 15 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
