Couple moving to Cape Coral from out of state

Average temperature is around 75°F, so it's warm year-round. You can expect to pay around $1,751 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,751/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Fairview for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is tough

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (The Heights) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
