Working in Carbondale -salaries realistic?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $124,800 on average. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The dating scene is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Old Town for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The food scene scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much stable but now it's pretty good.

Moved here from Chicago about 4 years ago. it exceeded my expectations. Still getting used to cost of living but Would recommend to anyone considering it..
