Hi all, With a population of 3,962, Carroll Valley is a small town. The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Carroll Valley sits at 51.1 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Is this normal for Carroll Valley? Property taxes are high but you get good services. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Meadowbrook for 1 years. Moved from Denver for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is decent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Far from beaches/mountains. And weather can be frustrating.
