Castaic in the winter -how bad?

Hey folks, Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $132,153, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What do you all think? Thanks in advance! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Minneapolis about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
