We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Oak Park area are improving. Kids love it here.

Came here for school and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The weather is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor recreation is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
