Cost of living reality check -Cayuga

Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and Rent is about $894/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Cayuga sits at 336.2 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 1,135 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The nightlife scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from San Francisco about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
