So, With a population of 2,693, Chatfield is a small town. Median household income is $91,912, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The public transit is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Eastside for 6 years. Moved from Baltimore for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Limited high-paying job options. And public transit can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I work in manufacturing here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is average. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Tampa it's surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
