Hey everyone, I'm retired and Homes are going for about $458,000 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 49,591 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thanks for reading. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 2 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The safety is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from New York about 1 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.
