Been meaning to ask this. I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $455,300 on average. With a population of 102K, Chico is a mid-size city. The median home value here is around $455,300, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Chico sits at 581.3 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any advice would be great. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
