Just moved to Chino from Miami — first impressions

We made the move 1 ago and here are my first impressions:

People are genuinely friendly here. Rent runs about $2,208/month for a typical apartment. Weather is moderate — about 63F average.

Biggest surprise: Traffic is worse than I thought
Biggest disappointment: Some areas feel neglected

Overall, I really enjoy living here.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

I've lived in Westside for 11 years and it's a hidden gem honestly.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!

I work in government and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 5 months.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

Don't sleep on Old Town. It's up and coming and still affordable.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Lakewood. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Rent tip: look for places in winter. Prices drop and there's more availability.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

As someone who moved here from New York, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.
