First post here. It's a a small town city with about 21,574 people. Household incomes average around $84,326 in Clemmons. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. TIA! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in Highland for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving
The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
