Moving to Cloverdale with kids -good idea?

Random thought, I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $47,016 in Cloverdale. Median household income is $47,016, which feels on the lower side for the area. Homes are going for about $117,300 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Let me know your thoughts. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 6 years. Moved from San Francisco for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Road conditions need improvement. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Old Town for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- The healthcare scene is decent

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
